Care during pregnancy – an important investment for you and your child

Pregnancy is one of the most important and transformative periods in a woman’s life. During this time, the body undergoes major changes, both hormonally and physically. The hormone relaxin is released to soften joints and ligaments, making the pelvis more flexible for childbirth. However, this increased mobility can also lead to instability in the spine and pelvis, which often results in pain and imbalance. Manual therapy is a safe and effective method of maintaining this balance throughout pregnancy, which can reduce pain and increase your mobility and well-being.

Medical studies show that pregnant women who receive treatment often experience reduced back and pelvic pain, better posture and increased physical function. A balanced and mobile spine can also reduce the risk of complications during childbirth, such as an indeterminate fetal position or unnecessarily long labor. The treatment focuses on releasing nerve impulses, which helps the nervous system function optimally – something that is crucial for both you and your baby’s health.

Once your baby is born, treatment continues to play an important role. A newborn goes through a lot of physical stress during delivery, with pressure and twisting that can affect the function of the spine and nervous system. Pediatric (chiropractic, naprapathy & massage) care aims to ensure that the baby’s spine and nervous system develop without hindrance. Proper nerve function is fundamental to the baby’s motor development, nerve control and overall health.

Research shows that infant therapy can help relieve common problems such as colic, sleep problems and irritability, as well as improve digestion and nervous system function. Through gentle adjustments, we can help the child process and recover from the stress of childbirth, which creates good conditions for healthy development and a better immune system.

At the clinic, we see it as a great privilege to support families through pregnancy and early childhood with manual, gentle and scientifically based care. Investing in therapy from the beginning of pregnancy and through the child’s first year is to give the body and nervous system the best conditions for health and balance – something that can make a difference for a lifetime.

How do I know if my child needs treatment?

Children, from infants to older children, may show various signs that their musculoskeletal or nervous system needs support. In infants, symptoms such as colic, irritability, difficulty being comforted, limited neck rotation (torticollis) with a favored head position, which sometimes leads to skull asymmetry or a flat head, breastfeeding difficulties, and gastrointestinal problems such as constipation, may be signs that a therapist is needed. Motor difficulties such as problems lifting the head, lying on the stomach, or crawling may also indicate a need for treatment.

For older children, growing pains can lead to musculoskeletal imbalances, and complaints such as headaches, posture problems, sports injuries, or overuse may be indications that treatment may be helpful. In addition, preventive treatment can help promote good function and balance in the body over time. Our clinic offers professional assessment and customized treatments to support the health and well-being of children at all ages.
